What can a Consulate NOT do for you?
Uruguayan consulates have specific consular assistance and protection functions. However, they are not authorized to carry out the following procedures:
- Carry out procedures related to visas issued by Australia or New Zealand
- Apply for the issuance, extension or modification of visas to enter or remain in Australia or New Zealand
- Request extensions or extensions of stay as a tourist
- Intervening as a party in legal proceedings or preventing a person from being sent to prison
- Provide legal advice or act on your behalf in court
- Manage preferential treatment in hospitals, prisons or other institutions in the country of residence
- Perform functions typical of travel agencies, airlines, banks or other private companies
- Provide tickets or economic resources to return to Uruguay or continue their journey, except in exceptional cases of humanitarian repatriation
- Take care of the payment of personal bills (accommodation, medical assistance, legal, etc.)
- To manage accommodation, employment, residence or work permits, or to act as a guarantor.
- Legalise your immigration status with local authorities
