Consulate General in Chongqing

Certificates of Existence are required as proof of life to the institution that pays your retirement pension or other pension.

How do I start the procedure?

Option 1: Face-to-face procedure (by appointment):

1. Request an appointment by writing to: cgchongqing@mrree.gub.uy.
2. Present yourself on the day of the appointment with an identity card or passport. 

Option 2: Procedure by email:

Send an email to cgchongqing@mrree.gub.uy with the application and the following scanned documents:

• Copy of the identity card (front and back) or Uruguayan passport (data sheet)
• Medical certificate confirming that you are alive, signed by a doctor, with stamp, professional number and date (no more than 7 days before)
• You can also send a Proof of Life certificate issued by another public authority

Specific information according to the pension fund:

• Military Pension Fund: The Proof of Life certificate of this institution is processed only in the months of January and July of each year.
• BPS: If you do it in person, the certificate is valid for 90 days. If you do so with a medical certificate or from another institution, the certificate is valid for 60 days.
