Note: The issuance of identity cards for the first time can only be done at the National Directorate of Civil Identification, in Uruguay.

Requirements

For people of legal age

• Expired or damaged identity card.

In case of loss or theft

• Police report to the local police, as applicable.

Legal Citizens

• Expired or damaged Identity Card.
• Citizenship Letter.
• Civic Credential (when more than three years have passed since the issuance of the Citizenship Letter).
• Birth certificate registered in the Civil Registry.
• Affidavit of not having acquired a third citizenship in the case of residents abroad.

For minors

• Expired or damaged identity card.
• Valid Uruguayan birth certificate (issued less than 30 days before).
• Valid identity document of the responsible adult.
• In case of loss or theft: police report to the local police.

Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian, who must authorise the procedure in person.

How to start the process?

1. Gather the required documentation, depending on your situation (age, renewal or loss, legal citizenship, etc.)
2. Request an appointment by sending an email to cgchongqing@mrree.gub.uy, attaching the corresponding documentation, and indicating in the subject of the email the requested procedure.
3. Present yourself in person on the day of the renewal with complete documentation.

Cost: CNY 122 (this amount may vary slightly depending on the current exchange rate between the CNY and US dollar). Payment is to be made on the day of your appointment via bank deposit in CNY.
