Opening of a New Permanent Uruguayan Products Showroom in Western China
The new Uruguay showroom is located in the central services area of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, the city's busiest and most modern airport, serving a metropolitan area of 22 million inhabitants.
The Consulate General of Uruguay in Chongqing, together with the authorities of Jianyang District and the Chengdu Center for Opening-up and International Cooperation, participated in the opening ceremony of the new showroom.
The permanent showroom, which is open to the public for direct sales, offers a wide variety of Uruguayan products, including amethysts, yerba mate, wines, grapamiel, long-life milk, Uruguayan export-quality beef, and books by Uruguayan authors translated into Chinese.
The inauguration of this new permanent showroom, which complements the pavilion operating in Chongqing since 2023, strengthens the presence of Uruguayan products in western China—a region to which Uruguay exports approximately USD 200 million annually through direct trade. It also represents an excellent opportunity and an ideal platform for additional Uruguayan products, particularly those from small and medium-sized enterprises, to reach Chinese consumers.
