Emergency Passport

Those who need to travel urgently and whose ordinary passport is damaged or worn, has no pages left, or has been stolen or lost.

Who can apply for this?

Those born in Uruguay, children of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 16.021), grandchildren of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 19.362) and legal citizens.

Requirements

  1. Original Uruguayan identity card. If you do not have one, present the original of another identification document.
  2. Original passport or copy if it has been lost or stolen.
  3. Imminent travel itinerary.
  4. If you are applying due to theft or loss of identity documents, you must present a report made to the competent authorities.
  5. Report in the Uruguayan Public Security Management System (to be made at the time of application).
  6. Application form (found at the bottom of the page).

Note:

  • This procedure can only be carried out in person at the Consulate, where your fingerprints will be taken to verify your identity.
  • You can only apply if your Uruguayan passport was valid.
  • This passport is for emergency use only.
  • The document is not issued immediately; it requires prior approval by the authorities in Uruguay. Once approved, you will be notified.
  • If you are travelling to Uruguay, the document will be retained upon entry into the country; in this case, in order to leave the country again, you will need to apply for a new passport while in Uruguay.

Once you have carefully reviewed all the requirements detailed above, please request an appointment by emailing cghongkong@mrree.gub.uy, attaching the required documents.


After verifying the information, you will receive a reply with the details of your appointment to appear at the Consulate on the date and time indicated.


Cost: It is determined on the first working day of each month in Hong Kong dollars. You will be informed in the reply email to your request message. Please arrange an appointment through cghongkong@mrree.gub.uy.
