Screening of the Documentary Ida Vitale at the University of Hong Kong
The Consulate General of Uruguay in Hong Kong and HKU's School of Modern Languages and Cultures presented the documentary Ida Vitale, part of the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Catalogue 2025-2026.
The evening began with a cocktail reception during which Uruguayan beef empanadas and wines were served. After that, Prof. Loretta Kim of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures of Hong Kong University and Consul-General Federico Lage gave opening remarks. In turn, Mr. Chen Xianye, the translator of Ida Vitale's work to Chinese, introduced the poetry of this celebrated Uruguayan author.
After the screening, the 80-member audience engaged via videoconference in a conversation with the film's director and producer, María Arrillaga and Inés Vázquez.
