Who can carry out this procedure?
- People born in Uruguay
- Children of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 16.021)
- Grandchildren of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 19.362)
- Legal citizens
Requirements
- Valid Uruguayan identity document (identity card or passport)
- Identity document from the country of origin (for people who are not Uruguayan nationals)
How do I start the procedure?
1. Complete the application form (downloadable at the bottom of the page)
2. Gather the required documentation, depending on your situation.
3. Request the certificate by sending an email to: cgsydney@mrree.gub.uy, attaching:
o Digitized copy of the identity document: If it is an identity card: front and back and if it is a passport: biographic page
o Indicate precisely the reason for the request for the certificate
4. Cost: Free
How do I receive the certificate?
Once issued, the certificate will be sent by email. If the a physical copy of the original is required, the interested person must schedule an appointment to collect it at the Consulate General, using the email provided below.
