Testimony of birth, marriage, or death certificates
Who can carry out this procedure?
Individuals or direct relatives who require the issuance of a certified copy of a record registered in the Uruguayan Civil Registry database (birth, marriage, or death).
Requirements
• Copy of the Uruguayan identity card or Uruguayan passport of the holder of the certificate
• Registry number and office where the certificate was registered
• Name of the father and mother of the holder (applies to the birth certificate)
• Place and date of marriage or death
• Identity document of the applicant that proves the link with the holder, in the case of a third party
How do I start the procedure?
1. Gather the required documentation
2. Request the testimony of birth, marriage or death certificate by sending an email to: cgsydney@mrree.gub.uy, attaching:
o Required Documentation
o Digitized copy of the identity document: If it is an identity card: front and back.If it is a passport: biographic page
o Indicate precisely the name of the institution to which the item will be submitted
3. Cost: Free
How do I receive the testimony?
Once issued, the certificate will be sent by email. If the a physical copy of the original is required, the interested person must schedule an appointment to collect it at the Consulate General, using the email provided below.
