Criminal Record Certificate

Eligible Applicants

This procedure may be requested by:

  • Persons born in Uruguay
  • Children of Uruguayans born abroad (Law No. 16.021)
  • Grandchildren of Uruguayans born abroad (Law No. 19.362)
  • Legal citizens 

Requirements

  • Valid Uruguayan identity document (identity card or passport)
  • Identity document from the country of origin (for persons who are not Uruguayan nationals) 

Procedure

Gather the required documentation according to your situation. 

Request the certificate by sending an email to cgtoronto@mrree.gub.uy, attaching: 

  • A scanned copy of a valid identity document (Identity card: front and back, and/or passport: personal information page),
  • precise explanation of the reason for requesting the certificate
  • the applicant’s country of residence, as this Consulate General will only process requests from individuals residing within its jurisdiction.

Cost: 

This service is free of charge.

Once issued, the certificate will be sent by email If the original paper document is required, the applicant must request an appointment to collect it at the Consulate by email or by contacting our office by telephone.
