Emergency Passport
Eligible Applicants
Persons who must travel urgently and whose regular passport is damaged, has no available pages, has been stolen, or has been lost.
Eligible Applicants
Persons born in Uruguay, children of Uruguayans born abroad (Law No. 16.021), grandchildren of Uruguayans born abroad (Law No. 19.362) y legal citizens.
Requirements
- Original Uruguayan identity card. If unavailable, present another original identity document.
- Original passport or a copy if it has been lost or stolen.
- Imminent travel itinerary.
- If applying due to theft or loss of identity documents, a police report issued by the competent authorities.
- Report filed in the Uruguayan Public Security Management System (completed at the time of the appointment).
Important Notes
- This procedure may only be completed in person at the Consulate, where fingerprints will be taken to verify identity.
- An emergency passport may only be requested if the previous Uruguayan passport was still valid.
- This passport is issued exclusively for emergency situations.
- The document is not issued immediately. Prior approval by the competent authorities in Uruguay is required. Once approved, the applicant will be notified.
- If used to travel to Uruguay, the document will be retained by Uruguayan immigration authorities upon entry into the country. To travel abroad again, a new passport must be obtained in Uruguay.
- Once you have carefully reviewed all requirements, request an appointment by email at cgtoronto@mrree.gub.uy, attaching the required documentation.
- After the information has been verified, you will receive the details of your appointment.
