National Ceremony – Oath of Allegiance to the National Flag

The Oath of Allegiance to the National Flag

Is an act of patriotic symbolism that may only be taken on June 19 of each year.
Please note that any Uruguayan citizen aged 11 or older may take the Oath of Allegiance to the National Flag, regardless of whether they have attended school.

It should be noted that this is a one-time ceremony. It is not necessary to take the oath again if it has already been taken and the corresponding certificate is no longer available. In such cases, it will be sufficient to request the certificate from the institution in Uruguay where the ceremony originally took place.

Requirements

  • Full name of the person taking the oath
  • Date of birth
  • Uruguayan identity document or documentation proving Uruguayan nationality (identity card, voter registration card, passport, Uruguayan birth certificate, or foreign birth certificate indicating that the person is the child or grandchild of a Uruguayan national)
  • Contact telephone number
