Passport Renewal
Requirements for Adults
Renewal (Expired, Near Expiry, Damaged Passport, or No Available Pages)
- Original Uruguayan passport that is expired, about to expire, damaged, or has no available pages.
- Uruguayan National Identity Card (if available).
Apostilled Criminal Record Certificate issued by the authorities of the applicant’s place of residence.
In Case of Loss or Theft
- Police report filed with the police authority having jurisdiction over the applicant’s place of residence within the jurisdiction of this Consulate General.
- Report filed in the Public Security Management System of Uruguay (completed at the time of the appointment).
- Uruguayan National Identity Card (if available).
Apostilled Criminal Record Certificate issued by the authorities of the applicant’s place of residence.
Legal Citizens Must Also Submit
- Passport (page showing passport issuance and page showing legal citizenship status).
- Police report, if the passport has been lost or stolen.
- National Identity Card.
- Apostilled Criminal Record Certificate issued by the authorities of the applicant’s place of residence.
- Citizenship Certificate.
- Voter Registration Card when more than three years have elapsed since issuance of the Citizenship Certificate.
- Sworn Statement declaring that no third nationality has been acquired while residing abroad.
- Birth Certificate registered before the Civil Registry.
Requirements for Minors
- Uruguayan passport that is expired, has less than one year of validity remaining, is damaged, or has no available pages.
- Uruguayan National Identity Card (if available).
- Valid Uruguayan Birth Certificate (issued within the last 30 days).
- Valid identity documents of both parents.
All original documentation must be presented on the day of the appointment.
Authorization for Minors
Minors must appear accompanied by one parent, who must authorize the procedure in person.
If one parent is unable to be present, the absence must be justified as follows:
- If the parent is in Uruguay: obtain a minor authorization for passport issuance before the Travel Documentation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cuareim 1384, Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
- If the parent is abroad: obtain a minor authorization for passport issuance before the nearest Uruguayan Consulate.
- If one parent is deceased: submit the death certificate. If Uruguayan, it must have been issued within the last 30 days. If foreign, it must be apostilled and issued within the last year.
Important
The authorization for a minor must be obtained before requesting the appointment. The procedure cannot be completed without such authorization.

- Gather the required documentation according to your situation (adult, minor, renewal, loss, legal citizenship, etc.).
- Request an appointment by calling 416-730-1289.
- Appear in person on the date of the appointment with all required documentation.

- Passport Renewal: 2 Consular Fee Units
