Transport of Ashes or Human Remains
Requirements for transporting ashes or human remains:
Documentation Required for the Transfer of Ashes:
- Copy of Uruguayan or Canadian passport or identity card
- Apostilled Death Certificate valid for 90 days
- Apostilled Cremation Certificate
Required documentation for transporting human remains:
- Apostilled Death Certificate
- Signed note requesting the procedure
- Power of attorney or authorization to carry out the procedure
- Embalming certificate and hermetically sealed coffin certificate with official medical intervention, duly apostilled
- Authorization from the relevant health authority for transport of remains (Apostilled)
- Copy of the deceased’s identity document (preferably Uruguayan)
Who it is intended for:
- Persons born in Uruguay, children of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 16.021), and grandchildren of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 19.362)
