Foreign nationals requiring a visa to enter Uruguay may apply for this procedure. Please check in advance whether your nationality requires a visa in the Visa Admission Regime for Foreigners of the Ministry of the Interior of Uruguay
Tourist Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition
- Travel itinerary (round trip)
- Hotel reservation
- Proof of income duly certified, showing means of support during stay in Uruguay
- Letter explaining purpose and duration of stay
- Visa application form (available at the end of the page)
- Digital photograph with good lighting / white background / 1200×1200 pixels
- Police Check
- Reference in Uruguay
- Interview with Consular Officer
Note: The visa application must be submitted at least 40 days prior to the intended travel date. Once you have carefully reviewed the requirements detailed above, request an interview by sending an email to cgtoronto@mrree.gub.uy, attaching the required documents. After reviewing and verifying the information provided, you will receive a response with the details of your appointment. You must appear at the Consulate on the date and at the time indicated.
Fee: To initiate the visa application with the relevant authorities in Uruguay, you must first pay a fee of 3 consular units.
Work Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition
- Job offer or employment contract issued by a duly registered company in Uruguay, In accordance with the current national regulations, it must include the company’s details, information regarding its business activities, the DGI and BPS registration numbers, as well as the personal information and signature of the company’s legal representative.

Business Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Letter from the company, headquarters, or public institution in Uruguay extending the invitation. The letter must be on official letterhead and signed by the authorized representative of the company, headquarters, or public institution. It must include the personal information of the representative responsible for the company inviting the visa applicant.
- Letter from the applicant’s employer stating the purpose of the trip, the applicant’s position, the company’s legal name, and its business activity.
- Travel itinerary (round trip).
- Hotel reservation or other proof of accommodation.
- Visa application form (available at the bottom of the page).
- Digital photograph taken in good lighting. Background: White. Dimensions: 1200 × 1200 pixels.
- Criminal Record Certificate.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.

Study Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Proof of income, duly documented, demonstrating sufficient financial means to cover the applicant’s living expenses and accommodation in Uruguay for the duration of the stay indicated in the application.
- Proof of enrollment or a letter from the public or private educational institution or center where the applicant will study, receive a scholarship, or undertake an internship. The letter must be on official letterhead and signed by the institution’s legal representative. It must include the representative’s personal information, as well as the institution’s registration or authorization number issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Visa for Conferences, Conventions, and Seminars (National or International)
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Invitation letter from the event’s organizing institution or organization. In the case of private institutions or organizations, the letter must include a description of the institution and the event to be held, as well as the institution’s registration or authorization number issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. It must also include the personal information of the person responsible for the institution or organization.
- Document certifying that the event is of public interest.
- Round-trip flight reservation.
- Travel itinerary (round trip).
- Visa application form (available at the bottom of the page).
- Digital photograph taken in good lighting. Background: White. Dimensions: 1200 × 1200 pixels.
- Criminal Record Certificate.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.
