Outstanding Uruguayan Performance in the Formula 4 US Championship in Ontario, Canada

From September 4 to 6, 2026, Uruguayan driver Gaston Irazu delivered an outstanding performance in the Formula 4 US Championship, held at the Ontario Autodrome in Bowmanville, Canada, securing a podium finish in each of the three races held over the weekend.

Competing for Champagne Racing as a Uruguayan national driver, the young athlete finished second in the first race. He once again secured second place in the second race, before claiming a well-deserved victory in the third race, completing an exceptional weekend of sporting achievements.

With this victory, the Uruguayan driver secured his seventh win in 14 races and significantly increased his championship lead. He arrived in Canada with a 37-point advantage over his closest competitor and left Ontario with that lead extended to 66 points.

With four races remaining and 100 points still available, the driver now faces the final stage of the championship with the goal of securing his third championship title in motorsports in the United States.

Throughout the competition, the young driver also received the enthusiastic support of a group of Uruguayan nationals who attended the event at the Bowmanville circuit to cheer him on and show their support during this important stage of his sporting career.

In addition, the Consular Officer of the Consulate General of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Valeria Sofia, attended the competition together with her family in order to accompany and support the Uruguayan national during his participation in the championship.

The Consulate General congratulates Gaston Irazu on his outstanding results and recognizes his dedication, commitment, and sporting achievements, which are a source of pride for the Uruguayan community in Canada and for Uruguayan sport.
