Canberra / Uruguay joins GRULAC meeting with Australia's Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs

Advancing dialogue between Australia and Latin America and the Caribbean

Uruguay's Ambassador to Australia, Dianela Pi, joined the Heads of Mission of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC) for a working meeting with Australia's Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mer Ted O'Brien MP, at Australian Parliament House.

In addition to his role as Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr O'Brien represents the electorate of Fairfax in Queensland, where he maintains close ties with one of Australia's largest Latin American communities.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for strategic dialogue and an exchange of perspectives on the evolving relationship between Australia and Latin America and the Caribbean, a region of growing economic, political and geostrategic importance.

Discussions focused on opportunities to expand trade, strengthen cooperation in areas of shared interest, and further deepen the growing ties between the two regions.

Uruguay's participation reflects the country's commitment to an active and constructive foreign policy, grounded in dialogue, cooperation and the cultivation of strategic partnerships that not only strenghten bilateral relationships with Australia but also foster new opportunites for collaboration and mutual benefit between Australia and Latin America and the Caribbean.
