Social Security Agreement between Uruguay and Australia
The Social Security Agreement between Uruguay and Australia is the result of an extensive negotiation process between the authorities of both countries, which included two rounds of talks: the first held in Montevideo in September 2023, and the second in Canberra in June 2024. These instances made it possible to reach a final text of the Agreement in both Spanish and English versions, as well as a final draft of the Administrative Arrangement for its implementation.
The official signing of the Agreement will take place on 26 August 2025 in Canberra, marking a historic step in the bilateral relations. Once signed, the corresponding parliamentary approval process will begin in each State, enabling its future entry into force and implementation for the benefit of citizens of both countries.
