Importation of Household Goods for Uruguayans or Foreign Nationals – Decree 139/014
For Uruguayan citizens or foreign nationals who wish to relocate to Uruguay to reside there and who have lived abroad for more than one year continuously.
If you are considering moving to Uruguay to establish residence, either alone or with your family, you may benefit from the provisions of Decree 139/014.
Under this regime, and provided that the requirements established by the applicable regulations are met, the interested party may import free of foreign exchange procedures and exempt from all customs duties, taxes, or related charges:
- Household goods and personal effects furnishing their residence.
- Tools, machinery, equipment, and instruments related to the exercise of their profession, trade, or occupation.
It is recommended that you contact the Consulate well in advance and initiate the procedure at least one month before your final departure date.
