Call for Entries for the MERCOSUR Science, Technology, and Innovation Award
The 19th edition of the MERCOSUR Award for Science, Technology, and Innovation: Call for entries is now open. Applications will be accepted through August 31, 2026.

This competition recognizes work that contributes to the region’s scientific and technological development and focuses on “Decarbonization and the energy transition for a more sustainable world.”
The MERCOSUR Specialized Meeting on Science and Technology (RECYT), together with the science and technology agencies of the bloc’s Member and Associate States, invites students, young researchers, researchers, and teams from the region to participate in the award.
This issue is particularly relevant for MERCOSUR, which has significant potential in renewable energy sources
Applications may be submitted until August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Brasilia time, exclusively through the award's official website.
This edition features five categories:
- Scientific Initiation: individual or team category, open to high school and technical school students, including youth and adult education students enrolled in public or private institutions, who are under 25 years of age as of the registration deadline, regardless of whether an extension is granted.
- Undergraduate Student: individual category, open to undergraduate students at institutions of higher education and research, with no age limit, regardless of whether there is an extension.
- Young Researcher: individual category, open to graduates, master’s students, master’s degree holders, doctoral students, and PhD holders under 36 years of age as of the registration deadline, regardless of whether there is an extension.
- Senior Researcher: individual category, open to graduates, master’s students, master’s degree holders, doctoral students, and PhD holders who are 36 years of age or older as of the application deadline, regardless of whether an extension is granted.
- Integration: Team-based format, open to graduates, master’s students, master’s degree holders, doctoral students, and PhDs, with no age limit.
