Extraordinary Meeting of the Board of Directors of the EU-LAC Foundation in Montevideo

The EU-LAC Foundation held an extraordinary meeting of its Board of Directors in Montevideo, bringing together representatives from Latin America, the Caribbean, and the European Union to discuss ways to strengthen the EU-CELAC bi-regional partnership. This marks the first time this body has met outside Europe, making the gathering particularly significant.

During the meeting, the Foundation’s role as a key platform for ensuring continuity between summits, promoting political dialogue, and bringing together institutional, academic, and civil society actors around shared priorities was emphasized. Its contribution to the implementation of common agendas between the two regions was also highlighted.

The discussions focused on the organization’s future, its strategic direction, and its ability to continue strengthening bi-regional cooperation in a constantly evolving international context.

Against a backdrop of growing global challenges, the participants agreed that sustained dialogue and cooperation between the two regions are more necessary than ever to build mutual trust and move toward joint solutions.
