Working Meeting Between the Foreign Ministers of Belgium and Uruguay

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the state of bilateral relations and identify common challenges on which to work and achieve tangible results, particularly in the areas of judicial, police, and port cooperation. In addition, the participants exchanged views on the current political situation in Latin America.
On the matter of investment, Minister Prévot highlighted the presence of Belgian companies in Uruguay that have been investing in strategic sectors for several decades, which is a testament to the country’s democratic and economic stability.
Furthermore, the Belgian foreign minister acknowledged the work, effort, and contribution made by the contingent of Uruguayan military personnel as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In this regard, both leaders agreed on the importance of continuing to defend multilateralism.
Finally, Minister Lubetkin extended an invitation to Minister Prévot to visit Uruguay next year.
