Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry

Persons born in Uruguay, children of Uruguayan citizens born abroad (Law No. 16,021), grandchildren of Uruguayan citizens born abroad (Law No. 19,362), and legal citizens of Uruguay.

Requirements

  1. Original valid Uruguayan identity document of the applicant (identity card or passport).
  2. After carefully reviewing the requirements detailed above, please request an appointment by emailing cdottawa@mrree.gub.uy and attaching the required documentation.
  3. Once the information has been verified, you will receive an email with the details of your appointment, including the date and time at which you must appear at the Consulate.

Fee: CAD 52. Payment must be made on the day of the appointment by debit card at the Consulate. If you do not have a Canadian debit card, you may make a bank deposit in advance into the Embassy’s account. The relevant instructions will be provided when your appointment is confirmed.
