Description
In addition to the procedures that have a dedicated page on this website, the Embassy of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Ottawa may, within the scope of its authority and in accordance with the applicable regulations, provide the following consular services, among others:
Services Relating to Ships and Aircraft
- Issuance of certificates of deletion from the registry and other certificates or declarations relating to ships.
- Consular interventions relating to changes in a ship’s flag.
- Extension of navigation licences.
- Change of a ship’s name or form.
- Interventions relating to sea protests.
- Discharge of bottomry loans.
- Services relating to maritime casualties, abandonment of ships and other interventions provided for under maritime law.
- Certifications and other services relating to aircraft that fall within the jurisdiction of the Consular Office.
Notarial Services
- Execution of general powers of attorney.
- Execution of special powers of attorney.
- Revocation of powers of attorney.
- Issuance of first and subsequent certified copies or transcripts of public deeds executed before the Consular Office.
- Notarial recording of documents.
- Certification of signatures.
- Certification of copies.
- Certification of documents.
- Acknowledgment or authentication of signatures.
- Deposit of sealed wills.
- Opening of sealed wills.
- Deposit of valuables on behalf of private individuals.
- Establishment and cancellation of surety bonds.
- Acceptance or refusal of protests concerning bills of exchange and other commercial instruments.
- Administration of the property of missing or absent Uruguayan citizens, in the cases provided for by the applicable regulations.
- Other notarial services provided for under consular law.
Register of Nationality and Citizenship
- Issuance of certificates, official records and certified copies relating to entries made in the Register.
Miscellaneous Services
- Certification of catalogues, sample books and price lists.
- Certification of packing lists.
- Certification of lists of explosives or flammable materials.
- Other certifications provided for under the Consular Fee Schedule.
The provision of these services is subject to the jurisdiction of the Consular Office, the applicable regulations and, where required, the involvement of other Uruguayan public authorities.
If the procedure you wish to carry out is not listed on this website, you may inquire whether it can be performed by emailing cdottawa@mrree.gub.uy and providing your full name, place of residence, a description of the requested service and a copy of the relevant documentation. Once the inquiry has been reviewed, the Embassy will provide information on the applicable requirements, procedure, consular fee and, where appropriate, the need to schedule an appointment in advance.
