The Consular Section welcomed students from the McGill Model World Trade Organization Conference

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for exchange on diplomacy, international trade, multilateral negotiation, and Uruguay’s role in global decision-making forums. During the meeting, the students discussed Uruguayan foreign policy, the importance of the multilateral trading system, and current challenges in international economic cooperation.
In its role of maintaining close ties with citizens and engaging with the local community, the Consular Section promotes spaces for dialogue that bring Uruguay closer to students, academic institutions, and members of the public interested in learning more about the country, its international engagement, and its diplomatic work.
The activity also provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of training young people in areas related to trade, international negotiation, and foreign affairs, while recognizing the participants’ interest in representing Uruguay in this academic exercise.
The Consular Section extends special thanks to the students for their visit and for contributing, through this exchange, to promoting knowledge about Uruguay within the Canadian academic community.
