Uruguay Wins in Montreal Medals and Two Qualification Places for Lima 2027 at the 2026 Pan Am Canoe Sprint Championship

Uruguay's canoe sprint team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Pan American Canoe Sprint Championships, held in Montreal, Canada, from 13 to 15 July, winning three medals and securing two qualification places for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
Uruguay's medal winners were:
- Martín Gorriti – Gold Medal in the U23 Men's K1 1000 m.
- Matías Otero – Silver Medal in the Men's K1 1000 m.
- Matías Otero and Santiago Melo – Bronze Medal in the Men's K2 500 m.
These results earned Uruguay two qualification places for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, further demonstrating the country's growing competitiveness in canoe sprint at the continental level. During the final day of competition, the Uruguayan team also competed in the K4 500 m and the K1 200 m and K1 5000 m events.
