Who can apply?

Children of Uruguayan citizens (Law 16.021) and grandchildren of Uruguayan citizens (Law 19.362) who are interested in obtaining Uruguayan nationality and who were born in Berlin.

Requirements

• Apostilled International Birth Certificate from Germany (Internationale Geburtsurkunde mit Apostille) issued less than 90 days prior to submission.
• Uruguayan birth certificate of the parent granting nationality. In the case of birth registration by a Uruguayan grandparent, a copy of their Uruguayan birth certificate must also be provided.
• Valid identity document for the applicant.
• Valid identity documents for both parents.
• If the parents are married, a marriage certificate must be presented.
• Two witnesses over the age of 18 with their respective valid identity documents, who must be present on the day of registration.
• Completed application form (downloadable at the bottom of the page).

Note: this Consular Section can only register births that have taken place in Berlin.

Uruguayan birth certificates may be requested through this Consular Section. To request them, please send a copy of a previous birth certificate or, failing that, the details of the birth certificate to be requested (full first names and surnames; date of birth; place of birth; father’s first name and surname; mother’s first name and surname; and registration details: year, registry office and certificate number).

How to apply?

After verifying the documentation, an appointment will be given to complete the registration on the date and time indicated. 

On the day of the appointment, the interested party and two witnesses must appear in person. In the case of minors, both parents must attend. 

Please, bring the originals of all the documents requested in the requirements.

Cost

15 euros  (the amount may vary depending on the current exchange rate). 

Payment will be made by bank transfer. The details for making the payment will be provided after you have sent all the documentation by email.
