The Uruguayan Consul in Berlin participated in the panel ‘Voices of Diplomacy: Women in Leadership’

To mark the tenth anniversary of Frauenalia, a panel discussion entitled “Voices of Diplomacy: Women in Leadership” was held, focused on highlighting the experiences of female diplomats and their careers in the foreign service. The event was attended by the Head of the Consular Section at this Embassy, First Secretary Francisca Mescia, as well as Minister Patricia von Wartenberg Salgado, responsible for multilateral affairs and human rights at the Mexican Embassy in Berlin, and Minister Youmna Osman from the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Berlin.
The panel addressed various aspects relating to the role of women in the diplomatic service and the challenges associated with their professional development. The event provided an opportunity to share personal and professional experiences, as well as the motivations that led them to join the foreign service and their reflections on the evolving role of women in diplomacy.
Finally, the panellists shared their thoughts and recommendations for the younger generation of women interested in pursuing a career in diplomacy.
The Uruguayan Embassy’s involvement in this event was part of its ongoing collaboration with the NGO Frauenalia, with which it has previously organised joint activities designed to provide tools to help Uruguayan women living in Berlin enter the labour market and to promote the development of their business ventures.
