Circular Note Nr. 14/2025 - English Without Limits Program

Informes

Information is hereby provided regarding the English Without Limits Program, which is seeking volunteers to teach English to students in rural schools.

It is hereby informed that the National Public Education Administration (ANEP) continues to implement the English Without Limits Program, a democratizing initiative that promotes the universalization of English language education. The program was developed within the framework of the Uruguay Plurilingual 2030 project and currently includes 643 schools in Uruguay (623 rural schools and 20 special urban schools) that do not currently have an in-person English teacher or the possibility of holding synchronous classes via videoconference.

In response to the challenges posed by the implementation of this program, since 2019 ANEP has relied on volunteer “godmothers” and “godfathers” who interact with teachers, students, and communities through activities such as reading stories, sending audio and/or video recordings, providing language support, and any other activities or projects agreed upon for this purpose.

At present, there are not enough volunteer “godparents” to cover all rural schools in the country. Therefore, an invitation is extended to all fellow Uruguayans residing abroad who have a good command of English to participate as volunteer mentors in this project. Additional information about the program is available, or inquiries may be directed to sinlimitesingles@anep.edu.uy.
