What can the Consulate do for you?
List of procedures that can be carried out at the Consulate.
Consular services provided by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Uruguay in Israel:
Identity and travel documents:
- Renewal of identity cards and passports
- Issuance of a passport for the first time
- Issuance of an emergency passport
- Safe-conduct (valid for a single return trip to Uruguay)
Authorizations for minors:
- Minor’s permit to travel abroad
- Minor’s permit to reside in Uruguay
- Minor’s permit to issue or renew a Uruguayan ID card or passport
Powers of attorney and certifications:
- Power of Attorney – Social Security Bank (BPS)
- Powers of attorney
- Certification of signatures on documents for Uruguay
Registrations and certificates:
- Registration of birth, death, or acknowledgment before the Civil Registry of Uruguay
- Certified copies of birth, marriage, or death certificates
- Certificate of existence
Procedures with Uruguayan organizations:
- Request for personal user registration with BPS
- Return to the Republic
- Visa processing for foreigners
Consular assistance and protection:
- Assisting Uruguayan tourists involved in accidents
- Transfer of ashes or mortal remains to Uruguay
- Information and advice to relatives in cases of accidents, deaths, armed conflict, or disasters
- Interest in Uruguayan citizens detained or imprisoned and, under certain circumstances, transmission of messages to their relatives
- Request for the whereabouts of persons from local authorities
- Contact with relatives to inform about situations and needs
What can't the Consulate do for you?
Uruguayan consulates have specific functions of consular assistance and protection. However, they are not authorized to carry out the following actions:
- Provide information on consular requirements set by Israeli authorities
- Request the issuance, extension, or modification of visas to enter or remain in Israel
- Request extensions or prolongations of stay as a tourist
- Intervene as a party in judicial proceedings or prevent a person from being sent to prison
- Provide legal advice or act on your behalf before courts
- Arrange preferential treatment in hospitals, prisons, or other institutions in the country of residence
- Perform functions of travel agencies, airlines, banks, employment agencies, or other private companies
- Provide tickets or financial resources to return to Uruguay or continue your journey, except in exceptional cases of humanitarian repatriation
- Take responsibility for payment of personal bills (accommodation, medical, legal assistance, etc.)
- Arrange accommodation, employment, residence, or work permits, nor act as guarantor or surety
- Regularize your immigration status with local authorities
