The Danish delegation was composed by Ms. Lisbet Zilmer-Johns, Secretary of State for Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Thomas Lund-Sorensen, Director of the Department for Asia and Latin America, and Ms. Eva Bisgaard Pedersen, Ambassador of Denmark to Brasilia (also accredited to Uruguay).

Following the courtesy meeting offered by the Deputy Minister of the Uruguguayan Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nicolás Albertoni, to the Danish Secretary of State — in which topics such as MERCOSUR-EU relations and expectations for announcements ahead of the MERCOSUR Summit in Montevideo on December 6, 2024, were discussed — both authorities proceeded to sign the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark to establish a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism".

This agreement aims to create a formal instance for bilateral political consultation meetings to address bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues of mutual interest or of interest to any of the countries.

After signing the agreement, a working meeting took place between Mr. Fernando Sandín, Director-General for Political Affairs (on behalf of the Uruguayan delegation), and Ms. Secretary of State Zilmer-Johns, resulting in the first political consultation meeting between both states.
