Uruguay’s participation in the 30th Anniversary of International IDEA

Last week, the Embassy of Uruguay in Sweden had the honor of taking part in the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), held in Stockholm.
The occasion featured a series of high-level events, attended by distinguished international figures, including former President of Chile, Ms. Michelle Bachelet; Secretary-General of International IDEA, Dr. Kevin Casas-Zamora; and former Vice President of Uruguay, Ms. Beatriz Argimón, who actively contributed to the commemorative proceedings.
This significant gathering served as a platform for reflection and for the reaffirmation of a shared commitment to the core principles of democracy, the rule of law, and international cooperation—foundational pillars in confronting the complex challenges of the global context.
Uruguay reiterates its steadfast dedication to promoting active and constructive engagement in the defense of democratic values and the strengthening of representative institutions on the international stage.
