Issuance of passport, first time for adults
Requirements:
Persons born in Uruguay
- Uruguayan identity card (if you have one).
- Uruguayan birth certificate.
- Valid foreign passport of the applicant and/or Identification document from their country of residence.
- A valid criminal record certificate issued by the competent local authority of your place of residence, duly apostilled, and valid for no more than 180 days.

Persons born abroad to a mother/father born in Uruguay (Law 16.021)
- Uruguayan identity card (if you have one).
- Uruguayan birth certificate, either registered in the Book of Foreigners of the Civil Registry in Uruguay or Birth Registration at a Consulate.
- Valid foreign passport of the applicant and/or Identification document from their country of residence.
- Uruguayan birth certificate of father/mother born in Uruguay.
- A valid criminal record certificate issued by the competent local authority of your place of residence, duly apostilled, and valid for no more than 180 days.

Persons born abroad to a grandfather/grandmother born in Uruguay (Law 19.362)
- Uruguayan identity card (if you have one).
- Uruguayan birth certificate, either registered in the Book of Foreigners of the Civil Registry in Uruguay or Birth Registration at a Consulate.
- Valid foreign passport of the applicant and/or Identification document from their country of residence.
- Uruguayan birth certificate of grandfather/grandmother born in Uruguay.
Father's/mother's birth certificate is needed to prove filiation. - A valid criminal record certificate issued by the competent local authority of your place of residence, duly apostilled, and valid for no more than 180 days.

How to obtain a criminal record:
- To obtain a criminal record extract in Sweden, you must request a document denominated “Belastningsregistret – begär utdrag, Blanketter - utdrag att använda utomlands o Request for an extract for the criminal records registry for purpose in another country.”
This extract can be requested directly from the Swedish police website. - To request a criminal record certificate in Norway, you must request a document denominated “Police certificate of conduct, Request a police certificate of conduct or updated background check.”
You can request it directly from the Norwegian police website. - To request a criminal record certificate in Denmark, you must apply for a “Certificate of criminal record.” You can request it directly from the Danish police website.
It is preferable to request the document in Spanish. If this is not possible, it can also be requested in English.
How to obtain the Hague Apostille for foreign documents to be valid in Uruguay, in the case of:
Sweden: at the Notary Public
Denmark: at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Norway: at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The County Governors (Fylkesmannen).
All the aforementioned documentation must be sent to cdestocolmo@mrree.gub.uy in PDF or JPG format.
Once the complete documentation is received, you will be given an appointment to visit the Consulate in Stockholm to continue your process.
On the day of the appointment, you must present all the requested documentation.
