Passport renewal for minors
Requirements:
- Original passport expired or about to expire, damaged or with nonempty pages.
- Uruguayan identity card (if you have one).
- Uruguayan birth certificate (issue less than 30 days old).
- Valid passports of the minor's mother and father or guardians.
- Application form (find it at the bottom of this page).
Note: Minors must always attend the appointment in the company of both parents, who must authorize the procedure in person. If one of the parents is not present to conduct the procedure, they must process a Minor Permit for Passport Issuance for the first time in:
Uruguay: Travel Documentation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Relations
(Street Cuareim 1384, (Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 15:00 hrs).
Abroad: Address the Uruguayan Consulate closest to your residence.
If the mother/father is deceased: present a death certificate. If the death certificate is from a foreign authority, it must be duly legalized or apostilled and translated to Spanish language.
How to obtain the Hague Apostille for foreign documents to be valid in Uruguay, in the case of:
Sweden: at the Notary Public
Denmark: at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Norway: at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The County Governors (Fylkesmannen).
All the aforementioned documentation must be sent to cdestocolmo@mrree.gub.uy in PDF or JPG format.
Once the complete documentation is received, you will be given an appointment to visit the Consulate in Stockholm to continue your process.
On the day of the appointment, you must present all the requested documentation.
Cost: $36 USD approximately (Equivalents in Swedish crowns according to the exchange rate valid on the day the appointment is granted).
