The GII published annually, having issued its 16th edition in 2023, is a ranking of innovation skills and outputs in world economies.
GII Structure and Methodology
The assessment uses 80 indicators (64 quantitative, 11 composite, and 5 qualitative). This index is divided into 2 sub-indexes: the input sub-index measuring the components: institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, and business sophistication. On the other hand, the output, or product sub-index, is made up of knowledge and technology production, and creative production.
