The Oriental Republic of Uruguay and New Zealand share a commitment to the Antarctic Treaty System, both being parties to the Antarctic Treaty and the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty, and members of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources.
Both the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and New Zealand have a strong interest in upholding and protecting the integrity of the Antarctic Treaty System, to keep this unique part of the world peaceful, demilitarised, free of commercial mining indefinitely, and comprehensively protected.
In the spirit of the principles of cooperation in the Antarctic Treaty, the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty, and the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, both countries wish to strengthen Antarctic cooperation on subjects of common interest.
Conscious of the value of regular dialogue on Antarctic and Southern Ocean issues, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Uruguay and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, will:
Discuss and collaborate on issues related to the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM), Committee on Environmental Protection (CEP) and the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), with the aim of ensuring a strong Antarctic Treaty System;
Exchange information on research priorities, operational experience, and environmental protection, with the aim of sharing best practice; and
Meet annually to discuss topics of mutual interest, including policy, legal, scientific, and environmental matters within the context of the Antarctic Treaty System. These meetings will usually take place on the margins of the ATCM or CCAMLR, and, as appropriate, of the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP).

La República Oriental del Uruguay y Nueva Zelanda comparten un compromiso con el Sistema del Tratado Antártico, siendo ambas partes del Tratado Antártico y del Protocolo al Tratado Antártico sobre Protección del Medio Ambiente, y miembros de la Comisión para la Conservación de los Recursos Vivos Marinos Antárticos.
Tanto la República Oriental del Uruguay como Nueva Zelanda tienen un firme interés en defender y proteger la integridad del Sistema del Tratado Antártico, con el fin de mantener esta región única del mundo pacífica, desmilitarizada, libre de minería comercial de forma indefinida y protegida de manera integral.
En el espíritu de los principios de cooperación del Tratado Antártico, el Protocolo al Tratado Antártico sobre Protección del Medio Ambiente y el Convenio para la Conservación de los Recursos Vivos Marinos Antárticos, ambos países desean fortalecer la cooperación antártica en temas de interés común.
Conscientes del valor del diálogo regular sobre cuestiones relacionadas con la Antártida y el Océano Austral, los representantes del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Uruguay y los representantes del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Comercio de Nueva Zelanda:
Debatirán y colaborarán en cuestiones relacionadas con la Reunión Consultiva del Tratado Antártico (RCTA) el Comité para la Protección del Medio Ambiente (CPA) y la Comisión para la Conservación de los Recursos Vivos Marinos Antárticos (CCRVMA), con el objetivo de garantizar un sistema del Tratado Antártico sólido;
Intercambiarán información sobre prioridades de investigación, experiencia operativa y protección del medio ambiente, con el objetivo de compartir las mejores prácticas; y
Se reunirán anualmente para debatir temas de interés mutuo, incluyendo cuestiones políticas, jurídicas, científicas y medioambientales en el contexto del Sistema del Tratado Antártico. Estas reuniones se celebrarán normalmente al margen de la RCTA o la CCRVMA y, según proceda, del Consejo de Administradores de Programas Antárticos Nacionales (COMNAP).
