Minor permit to reside in Uruguay

Who is it for?

Those interested in authorising a minor to reside in Uruguay.

How do I start the procedure?

1. Required documentation:

  • Valid identity document in good condition of the father or mother who wishes to authorise their child.
  • Valid birth certificate of the minor (no older than 30 days if Uruguayan; if foreign, no more than one year, and must have the proper legalisation or apostille as appropriate)
  • Copy of the minor's valid identity document
  • Copy of the identity document of the responsible adult with whom the minor will reside in Uruguay
  • Application form (downloadable at the bottom of the page)

Note: If the person who manages the permit at the Consulate does not present the original valid birth certificate of the minor, it must be presented by the person to whom the permit is granted.

In the event that both parents grant the minor's residence authorisation in the country, a copy of the valid identity document of the responsible adult who will manage the procedure in Uruguay must also be presented.
