Minor's permission to travel abroad
Who is it for?
Those interested in authorising the departure of a minor from Uruguay.
How do I start the procedure?
To start the procedure, you must have the following documentation, depending on whether the minor is traveling alone or accompanied:
1. Required documentation:
If the child is travelling alone:
- Valid identity document in good condition of the authorising father and/or mother
- Valid birth certificate of the minor (no older than 30 days if Uruguayan; if foreign, no more than one year, and must have the proper legalisation or apostille)
- Copy of the minor's valid identity document
- Application form (downloadable at the bottom of the page)
If the minor is accompanied:
- Valid identity document in good condition of the authorising father and/or mother
- Valid birth certificate of the minor (same conditions of validity as the previous case)
- Copy of the minor's valid identity document
- Copy of the accompanying person's valid identity document
- Application form (downloadable at the bottom of the page)
Note: If the person who manages the permit at the Consulate does not present the original valid birth certificate of the minor, it must be presented by the person to whom the permit is issued.
In the event that both parents grant authorisation for the minor to leave the country, a copy of the valid identity document of the responsible adult who will manage the permit in Uruguay must also be presented.
2. Request an appointment by sending an email to: uruaustralia@mrree.gub.uy, attaching the form, the corresponding documentation, and indicating in the subject of the email the requested procedure.
3. Present yourself in person with the complete documentation on the day of the appointment.
4. Cost: 28 Australian dollars. The amount may vary according to the current exchange rate between the Australian dollar and the US dollar. Payment is made in cash on the day of the appointment.
