Adelaide / "Uruguay’s Flavours: Cuisine and Identity over 200 Years"
The event was attended by Senators and members of the South Astralian Parliament, as well as enterprises from the gastronomic sector, teachers and students from TAFE SA (Technical and Further Education South Australia), and members of the Uruguayan community.
The evening was enriched with a live tango performance, accompanied by an orchestra led by Uruguayan musician Gabriel Rivara.
Elbio Patisserie, a company founded by Uruguayans with over twenty years of experience in Australia, was in charge of the food exhibition. Delighting those present with a special selection of empanadas, pascualinas, massinis, frolitas, and chajá dessert, in addition to the commemorative Bicentennial cake.
Likewise, Opa Alfajores, also founded by Uruguayans in Adelaide, sweetened the occasion with its artisanal alfajores, contributing to the spirit of celebration.
To accompany the evening and to share the essence of our national flavors comprehensively, a Uruguayan wine tasting, supplied by Vinos of Uruguay, was also hosted.
The tasting allowed to make visible the impact of Uruguayan cuisine on Australian education and culture. An achievement that was particularly appreciated by the authorities present.
