Certificate of Single Status
For Uruguayan citizens who intend to marry or enter into a civil union abroad.
The certificate of single status must be requested in Uruguay through the Dirección General del Registro de Estado Civil. Please note that all documents issued in Uruguay must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay in order for the document to be valid before the authorities of Belgium or Luxembourg.
If local authorities require a consular document regarding your civil status, the Consulate may issue a certificate based on the apostilled document issued by the Dirección General del Registro de Estado Civil and the valid Uruguayan identity document presented by the applicant on the day of the appointment. This service is subject to a fee.
