Certificate of Single Status
Persons born in Uruguay, children of Uruguayan citizens born abroad (Law No. 16,021), grandchildren of Uruguayan citizens born abroad (Law No. 19,362), and legal Uruguayan citizens.
Under the regulations currently in force, the Certificate of Single Status must be requested in Uruguay.
Please note that all documents issued in Uruguay must be apostilled in order to be valid before the Canadian authorities. The Hague Apostille may be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Montevideo.
Should the Canadian authorities require a consular document concerning your marital status, the Consulate may issue a certificate based on the apostilled document issued by the General Directorate of the Civil Registry and the valid Uruguayan identity document presented by the applicant.
