On Sunday 16 March 2026, the event promoting Uruguayan meat, “Uruguay Abend” (Uruguayan Evening), was held once again in Hamburg. Organised by the “Block House” restaurant chain, the event is supported by this Embassy and the National Meat Institute (INAC). On this occasion, the event was titled: “AUS WEIDE WIRD GENUSS – FROM PASTURE TO PLEASURE”, referring to the main characteristics of Uruguayan meat production and its sustainability.

The speakers included Block House CEO Karl-Heinz Kramer, Ambassador Fernando López Fabregat, INAC Sustainability Manager Gianni Motta, and Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Windisch, an expert in animal nutrition from the Technical University of Munich.

In their speeches, the aforementioned speakers emphasised the benefits of Uruguayan production, which is primarily based on natural pastures, a holistic approach (environmental, socio labour and economic) to sustainability, and the non-use of anabolic steroids, hormones or antibiotics for the purpose of increasing the animal’s muscle mass.
