Issuance of Proof of Life Certificate
Who can carry out this procedure?
This procedure is for people who live in Canberra, Australia, and who receive their retirement or pension from Uruguay through one of these institutions:
- Social Security Bank (BPS)
- Notarial Pension Fund
- Police Pension Fund
- Bank Employees’ Pension Fund
- Military Pension Fund
- Other pension funds in Uruguay
How do I start the procedure?
The procedure can be carried out in person or by email.
Option 1: Face-to-face procedure (by appointment):
- Request an appointment by writing to: uruaustralia@mrree.gub.uy
- Present yourself on the day of the appointment with an identity card or passport
- Cost: Free
Option 2: Procedure by email:
- Send an email to uruaustralia@mrree.gub.uy with the application and the following scanned documents:
- Copy of the identity card (front and back) or Uruguayan passport (data sheet)
- Medical certificate confirming that you are alive, signed by a doctor, with stamp, professional number and date (no more than 7 days before)
- You can also send a Proof of Life certificate issued by another public authority
- Cost: Free
Specific information according to the pension fund
- Military Pension Fund: The Proof of Life certificate of this institution is processed only in the months of January and July of each year
- BPS: If you do it in person, the certificate is valid for 90 days. If you do so with a medical certificate or from another institution, the certificate is valid for 60 days
