Tourist Visa
Who can apply for this visa?
- Foreigners who require a visa to enter Uruguay.
Check beforehand if you require a visa to enter Uruguay on the Ministry of the Interior's website.
German nationals do not need a visa to enter Uruguay and can stay in the country for 90 days (extendable for another 90 days).For longer stays, including temporary or permanent residency, they must change their immigration status once in Uruguay at the National Directorate of Migration, the competent authority in this matter.
Requirements
A tourist visa is available to individuals who wish to enter Uruguay temporarily for pleasure, recreation, or leisure and who, due to their nationality, require a visa.
To start the application process, you will need to submit the following documents:
- Passport in good condition, valid for at least six months and with at least two blank pages.
- Residence permit in Germany.
- For adults: German Criminal Record Certificate (Führungszeugnis mit Apostille) valid for a maximum of 90 days, duly apostilled by the German Federal Foreign Office.
- Biometric passport-size photograph.
- Round-trip travel itinerary.
- Hotel reservation and/or letter of invitation from a Uruguayan citizen or a person with permanent residence in Uruguay, including their contact information (full name, ID number, address, and telephone number).
- Proof of income and/or bank statements for the last 3 months, duly certified, that can justify living expenses and accommodation in Uruguay.
- Visa application form (downloadable at the bottom of the page).
Important:
- The Consulate may request additional documentation when necessary.
- It is suggested to start the visa application at least one month before your travel date.
- The fee is non-refundable in the event of an unfavourable outcome.

After verifying the documentation, an appointment will be scheduled for you to appear at the Consulate on the indicated date and time.
On the day of your appointment, you must present the originals of all the documents listed in the requirements.
Cost
To begin the visa application process with the relevant authorities in Uruguay, you must first pay €45 (the amount may vary depending on the current exchange rate).
Payment must be made by bank transfer. The payment details will be provided after you submit all the required documentation by email.
The fee is non-refundable in the event of an unfavourable outcome.
