National Contact Point

The National Contact Point (NCP) promotes Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) in Uruguay through the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Its mission is to carry out promotional activities, answer queries and contribute to the resolution of issues that arise in relation to the implementation of the Guidelines in cases of alleged non-compliance with them.

It will also have the following functions:

  1. Disseminate and promote the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises among state entities and agencies, the business sector, labor union, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders, seeking to promote their effectiveness;
  1. Examine and offer its good offices for the resolution of specific instances that arise in relation to the application of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises by a multinational company in Uruguay;
  1. Timely notify the Investment Committee of the OECD of the results of the specific procedures that have been followed for the resolution of a specific instance;
  1. Cooperate, if necessary, on any matter related to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises that is relevant to their activities;
  1. Respond to queries about the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises raised by other National Contact Points, by the business sector, labor union, non-governmental organizations and the public as well as the governments of countries not adhering to the Guidelines;
  1. Prepare reports on their work for the meetings of the NCP Network (National Contact Point) of the OECD Investment Committee.
