OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

The "Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises" and its annex, the "OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises", were adopted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in 1976.

The Guidelines contain recommendations aimed at multinational companies to minimize and resolve conflicts that may arise from their operations, while promoting a positive effect on the social and environmental economy in the country in which they carry out their activities.

They offer guidelines to ensure that these business activities are carried out in harmony with public policies, transparency and mutual trust between companies and the societies in which they carry out their activity are strengthened, they contribute to improving the climate for foreign investment and enhance the contribution of multinational companies to sustainable development.

It is the only instrument of Responsible Business Conduct agreed multilaterally that governments have committed to promoting, achieving significant international support.
