After starting the process, can I obtain the Uruguayan identity card?
When applying for a permanent residency (of any category), a digital certificate will be issued to allow the applicant to obtain the Uruguayan identity card.
This certificate contains the file number of the application at the National Department of Migration (Dirección Nacional de Migración) and the person will apppear as "Resident in Process".
The identity card obtained for the first time is valid for two years.
