Yes, the residency process costs 557.30 indexed units per person. To know the value os the indexed unit in pesos, you can access the website of the Central Bank of Uruguay. Additionally, the procedure includes the cost of the payment gateway and the cost of the first Migratory Certificate for DNIC, 55.7 U.I., which is used to obtain the first Identity Card.
Payment exemptions
There are two reasons for which people are exempted from paying the residency fee in Uruguay: because of their nationality or because of insufficient resources.
Because of nationality: Brazilians and Paraguayans
Persons of Brazilian or Paraguayan origin who wish to apply for residency in Uruguay are exempted from paying the procedure.
Due to insufficient resources:
People in a situation of vulnerability may apply for an exceptional exemption of payment through Mides.
